In 2014 Alexa earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Marriage and Family Studies. After starting a family of her own, she felt inspired to pursue a career that reflected her long-standing interest in mental health and emotional well-being. This led her to complete a Master of Social Work from Arizona State University.

Before joining the Family Intensive Institute, Alexa gained experience in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings at the VA Medical Center where she supported veterans by providing compassionate, trauma-informed care for individuals experiencing a range of mental health challenges. She also worked for Star of Hope Mission, a non-profit organization serving women and families experiencing homelessness; helping clients find stability, build resilience, and reconnect with hope. These experiences deepened Alexa’s passion for walking alongside people in their most vulnerable and transformative moments.

Alexa’s therapeutic style is grounded in empathy, warmth, and collaboration. Her approach is client-centered, integrating elements of Integrated Attachment Model (IAM), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) while adapting to the unique needs and goals of each individual or family. Alexa values empowering clients to strengthen their sense of self, navigate relationships, and develop practical tools for emotional resilience and growth. Alexa specializes in perinatal mental health, working with women through pregnancy, postpartum, and early motherhood. Alexa is passionate about helping women feel supported and understood through the challenges and joys of motherhood.

Outside of work Alexa loves the beach, sunshine, and spending time outdoors. She enjoys running, yoga, baking, and being a mom to three fun and energetic girls.
