Cara Mularski is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate who holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a dual emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Houston-Victoria. She is currently supervised by Dr. Wayne Smith, Ph.D., LPC-S.

Cara is passionate about integrating diverse counseling theories and evidence-based approaches to provide comprehensive and individualized client support. Her commitment to mental health advocacy and crisis intervention informs her ability to build meaningful therapeutic relationships and foster lasting change.

Before joining Family Intensive Institute, Cara worked in residential treatment supporting young adult women+ healing from complex trauma and attachment wounds. Her clinical work is grounded in the Integrated Attachment Model (IAM), with additional training and application of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and trauma-informed care. She is also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a brain-based modality that helps resolve distressing memories safely and effectively and Polyvagal Theory.

Cara’s practice is rooted in attachment theory and guided by person-centered and existential philosophies. She creates a secure, collaborative space where clients can deepen self-awareness, develop resilience, and reconnect with their core values. Her work often includes creative exploration, mindfulness, and narrative therapy to support emotional integration and healing.

A member of the Psi Chi International Honor Society, Cara values ethical, developmentally attuned care and lifelong learning. Her personal experience as a mother of two enriches her insight into family dynamics, parenting, and relational development across the lifespan.
Outside of therapy, Cara enjoys reading, drawing, running, and spending time outdoors, especially in seasons other than Houston’s summer. She brings warmth, creativity, and authenticity to every therapeutic relationship.
